ATI Radeon 5830

by LLRRoD on February 24th, 2010

There are images circling around the web now of the upcoming ATI Radeon 5830. This card is suppose to be right under the 5850 in terms of performance but at sub $250. It is still considered an enthusiast card but the price point should be more attractive to mid-level gamers and power users. I managed to snag some of the pics for your viewing pleasure. Friday Mumblings

by LLRRoD on February 12th, 2010

Happy Friday to you all.  It wasn’t as bad (cold) outside as I thought it’d be.  Yesterday it was freezing.  Okay yeah, I live in Florida but my excuse is I don’t own a lot of jackets, so when it’s cold down here, there’s not a lot of protection against it.

In any case, not a whole slew of technology news this week, mainly because I’ve been busy setting up a few review materials up on the site and Bioshock officially taking over my life.

Hope everyone has their fair share of gaming this weekend :)

Bioshock 2 Arrives!

by LLRRoD on February 9th, 2010

So today I am eagerly awaiting my copy of Bioshock 2. Not that I can play it yet… probably only 1/3 if not 1/2 of the way through the first one, haha. I did start playing it when it first came out but there were some bugs with the PC version at the time and ended up putting it into my backlog. Years later… low and behold Bioshock 2 was announced.

As a fan, I did order the Bioshock 2: Limited Edition /insert ooohs and ahhh’s here. Got it from Amazon and calculating the tax, I went ahead and got it overnighted since it would have came out about the same had I paid it at a retail store. Come on FEDEX!

Bioshock 2 Limited Edition

It comes with a few other things like a soundtrack CD, an LP that I will probably never listen to, and 3 special lithographs. Overall I still don’t see how developers nowadays charge $100 for their limiteds. When Blizzard came out with the first collector’s edition of World of Warcraft that thing was only 80 dollars and JAM packed with stuff in it.

The main selling point for me was the art book; 160 page hard back book, but again is that worth the extra 45 bucks for the box? Probably not, but as a fan of the game, it was a worthy investment.

EDIT: Welp, FedEx had to ruin my excitement… my tracking stopped in Orlando and won’t be delivered till tomorrow.  Apparently things were/are rough up in Tennessee where my package was sent (from Texas), which I didn’t quite understand their routes.  Anyway, I called up Amazon and they refunded me my one day shipping so I guess that makes up for it.  Hopefully, it gets here tomorrow in one piece :-/

Tip #4: Internet Speed Test

by LLRRoD on February 2nd, 2010

I’m not a big fan of Tuesdays. Sometimes it’s worst than Monday because Tuesday’s tend to go super slow compared to just getting off the weekend on Monday.

Anyhow, today I decided to put up a tip on internet speeds. Everyone should at least test their speeds a few times a month / year to make sure you’re getting the best possible transfer rates from your ISP.

Make sure you check out Tip #4: Internet Speed Test
