Between cleaning my place, office party, last minute shopping and some friends coming into town for the holiday festivities, I haven’t had a chance to update the site. My apologies! I’ll try my best to put up a few more galleries up of some recent builds I’ve done for PC Tech.
This year we’re doing Christmas at my parent’s place. So we’ll be driving over there Christmas morning and hanging out. Luckily, I only have to go a few miles to get to their house.
No snow to deal with down here in Florida.

If you haven’t heard, Google is planning to shake up the cell phone market next month (January 5th, 2010) with it’s $100-$200 phone. But get this… if you have a GMAIL account, which most people do, it will be $100 off making the phone a meger $99. It will utilize Google Voice. The kicker is, people say you will be able to use it with a prepaid SIM card which will allow you to pretty much have unlimited use of voice and texting for the price of a prepaid data sim card. I’ll post more news as I get it!
Google said on its official blog on Saturday that it was testing a new mobile device with its employees. Media reports have said that Google will sell an unlocked version of the touch screen phone, allowing consumers to pick a carrier of their choice to provide wireless service.
Another version will be linked to Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA, which will subsidize the cost of the phone for U.S. consumers who agree to a service contract, the source said. Pricing details were not available.

For all of those that are doing last minute shopping online (like me), make sure to check all your sites on Reseller Ratings. They don’t list every single site, but they do have a fairly good list of the reputable and non-reputable ones.
Whatever you do, don’t order without making sure it’s a legitimate site otherwise you could be scammed or waiting till AFTER Christmas to get your gifts.

Hardware Secrets has reviewed what is currently my favorite case to date, the Corsair Obsidian 800D. This monster is simply an amazing case. If you are a hardcore builder (and I mean hardcore due to the price tag of this baby) then there is no other option.
I don’t exactly agree with some of the points they made regarding the lack of noise absorption, honestly if you have this case.. you’re more than likely going to be water cooling. In which case, noise isn’t going to be as big of a factor.
The price of the case is a negative aspect, at an MSRP of $299, it’s not for everybody.

AT&T told investors at a UBS conference in New York that it plans to upgrade it’s network, but at the same time will be putting a tighter leash on those who are using up more than 40% of the network bandwidth. To me this is a stupid idea, most consumers use iPhones because they’re easy to use and allows them to use it for internet, email and MAYBE phone usage… to tell them they can’t is like telling a Blackberry user that they have to limit their emails. You decide.

Right now, the carrier doesn’t limit data usage for smart phones. It also doesn’t make it easy for subscribers to know how much data they’re consuming.
“We need to educate the customer … We’ve got to get them to understand what represents a megabyte of data,” de la Vega said. “We’re improving all our systems to let consumers get real-time information on their data usage.”
